Book Review: Unns – The Captivation by Sapan Saxena

I received this book Unns – The Captivation by Sapan Saxena from the author in exchange for an honest review.

“Of course you know about the seven stages of love, but have you ever lived them?”

Atharva Rthod and Meher Qasim.

Lovebirds since adolescence. Bonded by love, separated by circumstances. They part ways to only meet again. But this time, he is on a secret mission…

Are they in control of their own destiny, or is it their destiny which is making them dance to its tunes? Only time would answer, as Atharva a d Meher unwillingly and unknowingly transcend the seven stages of love.

A quintessential tale of love and romance marked beautifully by its own rustic old school charm.

My Take:

When I received the book from the publisher, the title initially confused me. I thought Unns was some abbreviation. But when I started reading the book, I realized what Unns meant and it made me appreciate the fact that the author has chosen such a lovely title. And the royal blue rose on the cover page of the book is such a remarkable touch.

I absolutely loved this book. A brilliant story with a strong set of characters, this book is such a page turner. I could not put it down without finishing.  It keeps you at the edge of your seat with all the twists and turns that author infuses into the story. The story might seem like a run-of-the-mill ordinary story but every moment in the book, be it a small or a big one, is connected to a a twist that the author brings in the later chapters. The pace of the story is perfect and the language is simple and lucid.

The characters are well drawn out. They have such a solid presence in the story. Be it Senior Agent Atharva Rathod or Meher Qasim, their characters are well defined and the character graph is amazing. I especially loved Atharva Rathod’s character. A strong minded and intelligent man with a suave personality. Meher is no less. She has an air of mystery around her always.

The love story of Atharva and Meher tugs at your heartstrings. From being to adolescent sweethearts to breaking up and meeting after 15 years, getting separated and again meeting after 12 years, their love story transcends place and time.

The seven stages of love that Meher explains to Atharva is so heart touching and beautiful. Also the naming of chapters with the seven stages of love is such a thoughtful one.

In a nut shell, this is a really delightful book with so many beautiful moments. I would definitely suggest this book to everyone. The only issue with the book is few editing errors which can be absolutely overlooked.

My Rating: 4.5/5

My Verdict: Unns – The Captivation captivates your soul. A must read on every reader’s list.
